BIP Maladaptives Tab

1. What does this feature do? (High-Level Overview)

The Maladaptives tab lets clinical teams manage reduction goals for maladaptive behaviors in a patient’s BIP. It supports clear goal setup, baseline tracking, STO/LTO progression, session-note readiness, charting, and print controls for the BIP output.

2. Who is this for? (Roles & Permissions)

• Users with BIP edit access (manage_bips): Can create, edit, discontinue, delete, and regenerate maladaptive plans and objectives.
• Users with BIP view access (view_bips): Can review maladaptive plans, objectives, progress, and charts in read-only workflows.
• Example clinical/admin users: Superadmin, Admin, Owner, Manager, and Analyst users commonly interact with this feature depending on the permissions assigned at the location.

3. Business Rules & Enforcements

• Rule 1: A maladaptive plan requires a goal name before it can be created.
• Rule 2: Required setup includes baseline level, baseline date, initial intensity, current intensity, baseline timeframe, timeframe, unit type, intensity key, setting event/antecedent, hypothesized function, and topographical definition.
• Rule 3: New maladaptive plans default to timeframe Per Week, baseline timeframe Per Hour, unit type Occurrences, status Active, and an added date of the current day.
• Rule 4: Setting event/antecedent and hypothesized function are allowed only for maladaptive plans. When available, the system can prefill them from matching prevalent setting data.
• Rule 5: Maladaptive plans can be marked as required for RBT notes. This helps identify goals that should be included when an RBT note is created.
• Rule 6: A goal does not appear ready for session-note use until at least one STO or LTO has an initial date and is marked In Progress.
• Rule 7: Only one STO should be in progress in the active STO sequence. When a user starts an STO, the system can master previous eligible STOs, reset later eligible STOs, and preserve final/manual statuses such as Mastered, Modified/Revised, and Discontinued.
• Rule 8: Mastered objectives require an initial date. Adding an initial date can prompt the user to move the objective to In Progress; adding an end date can prompt the user to move it to Mastered.
• Rule 9: Marking an objective as Modified/Revised ends the current objective and creates a follow-up objective with the next start date.
• Rule 10: Marking a plan as Discontinued sets current progress to Discontinued and also discontinues objectives that are currently In Progress.
• Rule 11: When discontinuing from an STO, the user must choose scope: Discontinue only STO or Discontinue STO and Plan.
• Rule 12: In Discontinue STO and Plan, the selected STO must have an end_date (if missing, user is prompted to set it to today) before discontinuation proceeds.
• Rule 13: In Discontinue STO and Plan, the plan is set to Discontinued and only the selected objective is forced to Discontinued in that flow; this path must not auto-create a new STO in In Progress.
• Rule 14: Marking a plan as Discontinued from the plan-status flow sets current progress to Discontinued and also discontinues objectives that are currently In Progress.
• Rule 15: Deleting a plan permanently deletes the plan, its objectives, and any related first-trial records. The UI recommends changing status instead of deleting when the goal should remain part of the record.
• Rule 16: The objectives table and the chart can each be shown or hidden in the printed BIP output.
• Rule 17: Bulk objective creation can add or replace STOs and can optionally create an LTO. If a new LTO is created when one already exists, the existing LTO is replaced.

5. How-To Guide (Step-by-Step)

Scenario A: Create a new maladaptive plan

1. Open the patient’s BIP.
2. Go to the Goals tab and find the Maladaptives section.
3. Click Add Maladaptive.
4. Enter the goal name and added date.
5. Complete the baseline, timeframe, intensity, intensity key, setting event/antecedent, hypothesized function, and topographical definition fields.
6. Choose whether the goal is required for RBT notes.
7. Click Save.

Scenario B: Prepare the goal for session notes

1. Open the maladaptive plan from the list.
2. Click Create objectives in bulk or add STO/LTO objectives manually.
3. Set the active STO’s initial date.
4. Set the active STO status to In Progress.
5. Review any confirmation prompts that update earlier or later STOs in the sequence.

Scenario C: Revise an active objective

1. Open the objective detail modal.
2. Change the objective status to Modified/Revised.
3. Confirm the workflow.
4. The system sets the current objective end date and creates a follow-up objective starting on the next day.

Scenario D: Manage reporting and printed output

1. Open the plan detail view.
2. Use show objectives table in bip print to include or exclude the plan’s objective table from the printed BIP.
3. Use show chart in bip print to include or exclude the plan chart from the printed BIP.
4. From the Maladaptives list, use Regenerate All Maladaptive Data Charts when weekly chart data needs to be recalculated for a selected date range.

6. What happens if…? (Edge Cases / FAQ)

• Q: What happens if a required maladaptive field is missing?
  • A: The plan cannot be saved, or the objective status change may be blocked until the required maladaptive details are completed.
• Q: What happens if the baseline timeframe changes?
  • A: The application may suggest updating the baseline level so the value stays aligned with the new timeframe.
• Q: What happens if the timeframe changes?
  • A: The application may suggest opening the bulk objective generator so the STOs match the updated measurement structure.

APPENDIX

Roles to consider

• Superadmin: Has all permissions, including the ability to manage other admins.
• Admin: Full access to all features and settings.
• Owner: Similar to admin, but scoped to their own locations.
• Manager: Access to administrative features but cannot manage other admins.
• RBT/Analyst: Providers who log sessions and view their own data.
